You are: home > river guides > chong kyzyl suu
Waterlevels: Low volume.
Accessibility: A reasonable quality dirt track leads up to the bottom of the interesting section of this river. A poorer quality and steep track leads to the put-in. A 4x4 comes recommended!
Upper Chong-Kyzyl-Suu
Non-stop rocky grade 3/4 with some nice technical moves to make.
Length: ?
Grade: III/IV
Put in/Get out: Soon after the track becomes poor, it crosses a bridge and starts to climb steeply. The first bridge you come to at the top of this steep bit is the takeout to the upper. Continue up the river a few km until you reach a small open plain, the river to your left. Put in here.
Description: The river drops through a pine forest, and at the levels we had was a bit of a rock bash, but you'll like it if you're welsh! There are a few nice drops with holes that might be lively in higher water.
Last Paddled: 29-Aug-2005
Middle Chong-Kyzyl-Suu
Steep 4+/5 treeinfested rockbashing. We didn't run this as there were at least 5 trees in the 1km section.
Length: 1km
Grade: IV+/V
Put in/Get out: Get-in at the top of the steep section, obvious from the road on the drive up (takeout of the upper). Takeout at the next bridge.
Description: We didn't paddle this, but it looked very steep and was choked with trees. It would be a cracking section without the trees, but ho-hom - it was a good excuse!
Last Paddled: Scouted only.
Lower Chong-Kyzyl-Suu
We didn't paddle any further down, but it appeared to be quite a good grade III section, but perhaps needed more water to make it interesting.
